Military records
A DD-214 is requested from the National Archives. Families can also use the VA’s free tools. We help when that process is stuck.
Discharge papers are what most VA pension and compensation files need. The official channel is NARA, including eVetRecs. We are not the official-only channel.
You can do this yourself
Families can file a free request through eVetRecs or the tools VA points to. Start there if you have time and the veteran’s full name, branch, and rough years of service.
When people write us
A request bounced. A name does not match. Nobody has time to sit on hold. We help assemble what NARA wants and, when you ask, stay with the request.
Do not put a Social Security number on this form. If a retrieval actually starts, we will tell you how to handle that separately.
Disclosure. Fund My Senior Care is not the National Archives and not VA. Record availability depends on NARA and the service branch. We cannot promise a find or a date.
